What’s New?
In the previous version, many people were concerned about the gas-only engine in the base model. The 2021 Crosstrek provides an additional 2.5-liter boxer engine that churns 182 horsepower. Subaru has also introduced a new sporty trim that comes with some new and exciting features. The car’s interior also got updated in the new trim.
The interior is now becoming an important factor when choosing what car to buy. With the Crosstrek’s amazing boasting power, agility, looks, and reasonable pricing, it’s only fair that we find out what it has to offer inside. This post will dive into the Subaru Crosstrek interior and tell you everything that you need to know.

Different Trim Levels
There are 4 different trim levels in the 2021 Subaru Crosstrek - Base, Premium, Sport, and Limited. Before diving into the interior, it’s prudent to first take a look at what each trim has to offer. This will help you figure out what to choose when buying.
Base Trim
The base model comes with a 2.0-liter flat 4 gas engine. This is linked to a 6-speed manual transmission that can also be replaced with a Continuously Variable Transmission or CVT. The standard model has a base price of $22,200.
Premium Trim
The Premium trim is an upgrade to the base trim. It boasts the same 2.0-liter flat 4 gas engine and a 6-speed manual transmission. It offers the Subaru StarLink package that adds smartphone connectivity, extra safety, and a host of other features. It has a starting price of $23,300.
Sport Trim
This new Sport trim was introduced with the 2021 Subaru Crosstrek model. It comes with a 2.5L flat 4 gas engine. It doesn’t have a manual transmission system and only supports the Continuously Variable Transmission (CVT). It offers new designs and features both inside and outside. You can buy it at a starting price of $26,500.
Limited Trim
Without any doubt, the limited trim offers the best features in the Subaru Crosstrek lineup. This includes an exquisite interior, coveted exterior, powerful 2.5L flat 4 gas engine, and CVT. You can get the limited trim for $28,000.
2021 Subaru Crosstrek’s Interior
The 2021 Subaru Crosstrek has a nice small cabin that looks tiny from the outside but is pretty large when you get inside. The car is spacious enough for 6 footers to fit inside easily, and it goes without saying that guys with the normal build will have a lot more room to move around.
Interior Outlook
When talking about the passenger seats and trunk space, they are also above average. The infotainment system is very easy to use and has a lot of features. The overall quality of the 2021 Subaru Crosstrek’s interior might not be high-end, but it is pretty sound, and everyone will like it. Subaru prefers functionality over form.
If you do not like the black and gray theme of the lower trims, you can go for sporty or limited trims as they add some flair to the 2021 Subaru Crosstrek’s interior. They offer golden and orange stitches as an option.
Base and Premium trims have seats that can be adjusted manually in six directions. The infotainment screen is smaller and has USB ports in the front section. Whereas the sport and limited trims bend more toward the luxury side, and they have a leather-covered steering wheel, a power seat for drivers (only in Limited trim), a bigger infotainment screen, and a USB port in the back seats.
The multifunction display (MFD) above the infotainment screen shows a lot of additional information like temperature, fuel consumption, and more. The cabin is not soundproof, but it reduces the road noise to a minimum.
THE BEST SEDANS WITH HIGH GROUND CLEARANCE
There are plenty of vehicles on the market that let you tower over obstacles without losing the convenience of a compact car. Therefore, we’ve put together a list of our favorite new sedans with high ground clearance.
Seating
There are 2 rows of seats (front and back seats) in the cabin and space for 5 passengers in all configurations. The seats in Base trim come with black cloth upholstery, and the interior in Premium trim has black and dual (black and gray) cloth upholstery with orange stitching.
The sport trim interior is made of a unique material called the Subaru StarTex material. It feels like a cross between vinyl and a wetsuit. In addition, the Sport trim has yellow stitching that gives the vehicle a different look. The only model in the 2021 Subaru Crosstrek lineup that has standard leather seats is the Limited trim.
Overall. There is ample room for the occupants’ heads and legs. 5 normal-sized adults can easily sit in the 2 rows of the car. The front offers 43.1 inches of legroom and 39.8 inches of headroom, whereas the rear comes with 36.5 inches of legroom and 38.0 inches of headroom.
Trunk and Cargo Space
The Crosstrek trunk offers 20.8 cubic feet of storage space for your luggage and cargo. This isn’t much, but it’s satisfactory. When you fold the 40⁄60 rear seats, you get a whopping 55.3 cubic feet of space which is enough to fit a person.

Tech
The 2021 Subaru Crosstrek’s interior has many other features, such as the rearview camera, auto climate control, and an infotainment system that offers Subaru’s Starlink. Using the screen is very easy. You can access all the apps and functions through touch. There are many buttons and knobs for climate and volume control as well.
There is a built-in navigation system, satellite radio, USB ports, moonroof, and remote start. The 2021 Subaru Crosstrek’s interior is also loaded with more features to aid the drivers. This includes the reverse automatic brake that engages when you get too close to a vehicle or object while reversing, blindspot monitoring system, Subaru’s eye suit for safety, lane keep assist, and much more.
Conclusion
The only thing that many Subaru fans may not like is the absence of adjustable lumbar support for the driver’s seat. It can sometimes make sitting for a long time slightly uncomfortable. Overall, the vehicle is a worthwhile purchase that meets all the needs of a daily user. Expect function over form—it’s a vehicle that’s made to be lived in, to be comfortable and reliable rather than extremely flashy.
