The full-size pickup truck market is dominated by the formidable Ford F-150 and Chevy Silverado. On the other hand, one can say the midsize pickup truck market is pretty much an open frontier, ripe for the taking. The segment is dotted with formidable contenders, with the Toyota Tacoma and Chevrolet Colorado standing tall as popular choices. Plus, the recent resurgence of the Ford Ranger adds another layer of intrigue for American customers.

One particular model that fights for its survival in the midsize truck segment is the relatively popular Honda Ridgeline. The Honda Ridgeline often finds itself at the center of a heated debate, with some purists dismissing it as “not a real truck” due to its SUV-like underpinnings. In reality, the Ridgeline has always been a solid, practical midsize truck that offers excellent road manners and innovative cargo solutions over raw capability.

With that said, there have been rumors of a 2024 Honda Ridgeline redesign that may come with the truck’s third generation. So, for today’s post, we discuss the potential redesign of Honda’s one and only pickup truck model. What can you expect with the upcoming 2024 Ridgeline? Let’s find out.

Is There a 2024 Honda Ridgeline Redesign?

To be frank, we don’t know much about the upcoming 2024 Ridgeline and whether it will kickstart a new generation of the midsize truck with a facelift thrown on the side. However, everyone in the automotive blogosphere seems convinced that a Ridgeline redesign is on the horizon. Honda has done a great job keeping its newest pickup truck under wraps, but we’ve seen several leaks and spy shots of the purportedly all-new Ridgeline.

Earlier this year, AutoBlog posted several spy photos of the alleged redesigned Ridgeline. Based on the photos taken from public roads, it’s indeed a Honda Ridgeline with a notable refreshed styling. To put things into context, the Ridgeline’s redesign happened back in 2017 with the debut of the truck’s second generation. As such, the Ridgeline is due for a redesign anytime soon, so many folks are speculating these photos are the real deal.

A New Ridgeline Trailsport?

Honda introduced the new Trailsport moniker for the 2022 Pilot and Passport. While the announcement did drum up some excitement for newer, more rugged SUVs, people’s high expectations were quickly deflated. You see, the “Trailsport” designation for the 2022 model year was ultimately an appearance package with Firestone Destination LEs tires and some basic off-road upgrades. Needless to say, it was a disappointing debut for the Trailsport moniker.

However, Honda has since rectified this with the 2023 Honda Pilot Trailsport, which offered functional upgrades and distinguished itself from the rest of the lineup. In short, Honda added meaningful off-road features like all-terrain tires, higher ground clearance, skid plates, and a softer front anti-roll bar. And just like that, the Pilot Trailsport turned into a proper off-road variant.

THE MOST RELIABLE YEAR FOR THE HONDA RIDGELINE

When buying used, you’re probably asking which is the Honda Ridgeline’s most reliable year. We go through all generations of the Honda Ridgeline and pick out some of the most reliable years for buying a used truck and which ones should be avoided.

Thankfully, the alleged Trailsport Ridgeline seems to lean more towards the latter. Plus, it makes sense for the midsize pickup since it already has standard Firestone tires and enhanced all-wheel drive. The cover seen on the spy photos for the front and rear bumpers is likely to hide the features that enhance the rugged design and off-road capabilities (i.e., higher ground clearance).

Of course, Honda has yet to confirm or deny these rumors, but fans probably won’t have to wait long to learn more about the all-new 2024 Ridgeline.

What to Expect From the 2024 Honda Ridgeline Redesign?

With all that said, there have been several speculations about the upcoming Ridgeline’s specifications and features, including:

Improved Engine and Transmission

Honda has been outfitting its line of newer SUVs and trucks, such as the Pilot, Passport, and Ridgeline, with a powerful 3.5-liter V6 engine. Looking ahead, we can expect that the new third-generation model will feature the same potent engine that powers the 2023 Pilot, producing a decent 285 hp.

Plus, the eight-speed automatic transmission ensures smoother road manners. On the other hand, the Ridgeline will likely come with all-wheel drive (AWD) as a standard feature, making it an excellent choice for those driving in different types of terrains.

Possibly a Hybrid Model

The Honda community is abuzz with discussions about the potential features of the hybrid Ridgeline model, though details are still unclear. However, we believe a hybrid model won’t be announced with the 2024 Ridgeline, at least not until 2027. Currently, Honda doesn’t have any V6 hybrid options available. They might introduce a 2.0 hybrid, but it probably won’t be as impressive as a V6. So, we likely won’t see a V6 hybrid from Honda until a complete redesign is on the cards.

Facelift With the Trailsport Ridgeline

As mentioned, there’s a good chance the 2024 Ridgeline will include a new, off-road-focused trim, the Trailsport. Based on the spy photos circulating on the web, the TrailSport pickup truck is set to take center stage in the upcoming facelift. This rugged upgrade is expected to arm the Ridgeline with all-terrain tires, a higher ground clearance, and steel skid plates, transforming it into a true off-road warrior.

Redesigned Interior and Upgrades

The 2024 Honda Ridgeline will undergo major interior upgrades, introducing many new features. The new model will likely adopt a similar interior design to the 2023 Honda Pilot, providing a more modern and comfortable cabin.

For instance, based on what’s equipped by the 2023 Pilot, the new Ridgeline will be provided with a 7.0-inch touchscreen infotainment system for the lower trims, while those opting for higher trims will be treated to a luxurious 9.0-inch screen. You can count on Apple CarPlay and Android Auto being standard features, with integrated navigation available in the top-tier models.

2024 Honda Ridgeline Availability

That wraps up the things you can expect with the upcoming 2024 Honda Ridgeline redesign. Remember that these are merely educated guesses on our part, so these changes are not set in stone. Fortunately, the wait is almost over. Honda plans to unveil the 2024 Ridgeline late this year, with sales starting early next year.
