Performance

The 2025 Bronco Sport continues to offer two engine options:

  1. Standard engine (Big Bend, Heritage, Free Wheeling, Outer Banks): 1.5-liter turbocharged three-cylinder • Approximately 180 horsepower and 200 lb-ft of torque (final specs TBA)
  2. Badlands and Badlands Sasquatch: 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder • Approximately 238 horsepower and 277 lb-ft of torque (final specs TBA)

Both engines are paired with an eight-speed automatic transmission, and all-wheel drive remains standard across the lineup. Ford notes that both engines will see a slight reduction in horsepower due to emissions requirements, but the decrease is expected to be in the single digits.

Sasquatch and Badlands Sasquatch: Off-Road Warriors

The introduction of the Sasquatch package for the 2025 Bronco Sport marks a significant leap in the vehicle’s off-road capabilities. Available on both the Outer Banks and Badlands trims, this package transforms the compact SUV into a more serious trail-tackling machine.

The Outer Banks Sasquatch brings several key upgrades:

  • Twin-clutch rear drive unit with locking rear differential
  • Increased ride height
  • 29-inch Goodyear Territory all-terrain tires
  • Modular steel front and rear bumpers with bash plates
  • Additional underbody protection
  • Four recovery points (two in front, two in rear)

For those seeking the ultimate off-road Bronco Sport, the Badlands Sasquatch takes things even further. Building on the already capable Badlands trim, it adds:

  • Bilstein rear shocks with position-sensitive damping and piggyback reservoirs
  • Front bash plate
  • Even greater suspension travel

The Badlands Sasquatch boasts impressive off-road specs:

  • 8.3 inches of front suspension travel
  • 8.7 inches of rear suspension travel
  • 23.6 inches of water fording ability
  • 31.2-degree approach angle
  • 27.9-degree departure angle
  • 21.7-degree break over angle
  • Approximately 8.8 inches of ground clearance

These specifications put the Bronco Sport Badlands Sasquatch in a class of its own among compact SUVs. Its water-fording depth is particularly impressive for a vehicle of this size, allowing drivers to tackle stream crossings and other watery terrains.

The Sasquatch package also introduces a new Rally G.O.A.T. mode, specifically tuned for high-speed off-road driving in sandy conditions. This mode sharpens throttle response, holds gears longer for more immediate power delivery, and increases steering feedback, allowing drivers to enjoy a more dynamic off-road experience.

One of the most intriguing features of the Sasquatch models is the Trail One-Pedal Drive system. This innovative technology allows drivers to control the vehicle’s speed using only the accelerator pedal during low-speed off-road maneuvers. By lifting off the pedal, the system automatically applies the brakes, making it easier for drivers to navigate challenging terrain without constantly switching between pedals.
