Chevron Gas Prices: Everything You Need To Know

UPDATE (8/6/2023): According to AAA, the national average gas price is now $3.829 per gallon after weeks of sustained increase. Based on the ongoing trends, expect fuel prices to keep on increasing and may reach $4 per gallon.
As of this writing, the national gas price in the United States is averaging $4.13 per gallon. While it’s not ideal for most motorists, it’s a welcome respite from the record high of $4.33 in early March. With that said, one of the best ways to save on gas is knowing which places offer the most competitive prices.
With over 6,000 locations in 21 states, Chevron is undoubtedly one of the largest gas companies in the market. The giant gas company has 1,830 locations in California, 1,124 in Texas, and 697 in Georgia.
So you’re probably thinking, how are Chevron gas prices these days? Lucky for you, we’re here to help. Today, we highlight another gas company, Chevron, and its costs across multiple locations. Plus, we’ll also discuss the Chevron gas quality and how you can save.
How Much Does Chevron Gas Cost?
Chevron is about as traditional a gas station as you can get, which means anyone is welcome at the pump without needing a membership. Chevron stations may be ubiquitous, but their prices can be pretty competitive as well. Also, we noticed that Chevron prices tend to be in line with big brand competitions like Shell. However, Chevron does have a few ways to help save gas (more on this later).
For this price analysis, we’re referencing GasBuddy to determine the prices for a few Chevron locations and how they compare with competing gas stations in the area.

Comparing Chevron Gas Prices
In Phoenix, AZ, Chevron has a per-gallon price of $4.27 for regular and $4.66 for premium. It’s a relatively competitive price, and it belongs among the top cheapest gas prices in the city. The most affordable gas prices in the area are 76 and Costco at $4.19 and $4.25, respectively. Interestingly, if you check out the whole state of Arizona, you’ll see that a Chevron location has the top spot at $3.99 per gallon.
Moving over to Anacortes, WA, Chevron offers a per-gallon price of $4.39, another top ten appearance for the brand. The topmost affordable prices in the area are Shell at $4.24 per gallon, Circle K at $4.38, and below Chevron is Safeway at $4.41. Again, Chevron manages to be competitive.
In Chula Vista, CA, Chevron’s gas price is $5.99 per gallon for regular and $6.29 for premium. Unfortunately, this price point didn’t make it to the top ten cheapest gas prices in Chula Vista. The lowest gas prices in the area are from Costco at $5.29 per gallon, San Diego Gasoline at $5.39, and The Tote at $5.39.
Heading over to Reno, NV, Chevron offers a per-gallon price of $5.15 for regular and $5.55 for premium. Once again, Chevron didn’t make it to Reno’s top ten lowest gas prices. And also, once again, Costco comes out on top with a per-gallon price of $4.79, followed by Sam’s Club at $4.84.
Overall, Chevron gas prices are precisely what you can expect from big brand names. Competitive in some locations, not so much in others.

Is Chevron Gas Good Quality?
Chevron is a Top Tier brand in the USA, Canada, and Mexico. Top-Tier-rated gasoline brands contain added detergents that are higher than the specified amounts by the EPA. This results in a cleaner engine and improved performance in general – including output and fuel economy. But don’t our word for it; we instead refer you to the AAA Fuel Quality Research as they went in-depth about how detergent gasoline makes a clear difference.
In addition, Chevron scored the highest points in customer satisfaction among the nation’s biggest gasoline companies.
How to Save on Chevron Gas Prices with Fuel Rewards Program
The most accessible way to save on Chevron gas for most people is by buying groceries. Chevron has partnered with grocery chain company Albertsons/Safeway to help customers save at the pump.
Like many grocery fuel rewards programs, shopping for an Albertsons/Safeway branch earns you points that you can redeem for various rewards – one of which is discounts on Chevron gas. The program is called Safeway for U, and it’s free to register.
First, here’s a quick list of all participating Chevron partners:
- Albertsons
- Safeway
- Tom Thumb
- United Supermarkets
- Vons
- Pavilions
- Carrs
- Randalls
- Market Street
- Albertsons Market
Members of the rewards program can earn 1 point for every $1 spent on these participating grocery chains and 2 points for every dollar spent on gift cards. Earning 100 points makes you eligible for 1 reward – of course, you’ll want to get the gas discount reward. 1 reward gets you a 10-cent off per gallon in all participating gas stations, including Chevron and Texaco.
HOW MUCH DOES IT COST TO TINT CAR WINDOWS?
Different tints block different levels of UV light and in the long run can prevent sun damage to your skin and eyes, but how much does it cost to tint car windows? We’ve got the answer.
However, there’s a limit on how much discount you can get. When filling up at a Chevron, you can only redeem up to 2 rewards or 20-cent off per gallon, with a maximum of 25 gallons for every transaction. If you want more discounts, you’ll have to fill up at Safeway gas stations for a maximum of $1.00 off per gallon.
In addition, you have to keep in mind that all points will expire at the end of every calendar month, so plan out your groceries and fill-ups accordingly.
Another way to earn gas discounts from Chevron is to sign up for Techron Advantage Cards. However, most people aren’t too keen on opening a new credit line just to save on gas.
Are Gas Prices Coming Up Again? [UPDATED 8/6/2023]
Yes. Gas prices in the United States are nearing $4 per gallon, reaching levels not seen in months. As of Sunday, the average price of gas is $3.829 per gallon, almost as high as the previous year’s average of $4.084. The current price is also up from the previous week’s average of $3.752 and the previous month’s average of $3.529.
According to AAA’s spokesman, Andrew Gross, last month’s extreme heat contributed to the spike in gas prices as some refineries pulled back, but operations are now returning to normal. This, along with declining oil prices and tepid demand, may help stabilize the tight supply price jolts. The increase in gas prices is largely attributed to higher oil prices, driven by production cuts from OPEC+ members, including Saudi Arabia’s extension of its voluntary cut of 1 million barrels per day through September.
4 Clever Ways to Save Gas at the Pump
To save on Chevron gas prices, here are some smart tips to help you save:
- Track local prices: Apps like GasBuddy will help you track gas prices all over the country. Just because it’s convenient to fill up at your usual station doesn’t mean it offers the best price per gallon. Perhaps, a nearby gas station or two provide better prices.
- Get gas cards or join rewards programs: Many major gas stations offer gas cards and fuel rewards programs that provide discounts whenever you fill up. Be sure that you review the terms of each program you join and see if it’s something that will help you save in the long run.
- Drive more efficiently: If you habitually accelerate and stop suddenly, you’re lowering your gas mileage by 10-40%. Learn how to accelerate and stop smoothly and significantly reduce the amount of gas you consume. Bad driving habits will cost you.
- Plan your travels: This tip is handy for errands and appointments you have on the regular. By planning your trips, you can knock out all your chores and responsibilities with a single trip.
