GetGo Gas Prices: Everything You Need To Know

If you live on the East Coast, you might have heard of GetGo. The gas station chain owned by Giant Eagle is one of the few chains that’s kept gas and the grocery store separate from the grocery store and one of the few that has kept the convenience store as a part of the mix.
But the remarkable thing about GetGo is the prices.
While only members using a specific payment method get the best prices, GetGo is a little different from many other gas stations in their prices and how their membership program works.
Here’s what you need to know about GetGo gas prices, where you can find GetGo and anything else you might need.
Why Are GetGo Gas Prices So Affordable?
If you’ve been driving along and comparing gas prices, you might have been shocked to see the price outside your local GetGo.
GetGo gas prices are consistently lower than the competition and even a little lower than national averages, which is a rare feat these days.
But are those prices for everyone?
Here’s the catch. While even the standard prices at GetGo are reasonable and pretty affordable compared with many other retailers, they don’t advertise everyday prices. Instead, the signs on GetGo gas stations usually reflect their membership prices, specifically their Advantage Pay prices.
Advantage Pay is a different way of paying at the pump, and you use a debit card linked to your checking account instead of a typical credit card or rewards card.
Advantage Pay customers can get as much as a 15ct standard price reduction on their gas, which is crucial because the discount makes the most significant difference in GetGo prices.
Otherwise, Gasbuddy reports GetGo prices are roughly in line with local averages on the East Coast.

Do You Need To Pay With Advantage Pay At GetGo?
While GetGo gas prices are definitely better with Advantage Pay, that doesn’t mean you have to use their payment system.
There are a few advantages, including improved card security, for users at the pump, but that doesn’t mean you need to be one of them.
Like any membership or rewards program, it’s a good idea to weigh the pros and cons of signing up before committing to the program.
Is Advantage Pay Safer?
Paying with Advantage Pay helps circumvent one of the most common ways credit card scammers can get your card information.
Since you don’t need to swipe the card, none of the information you can typically get from a swipe is recorded by the same equipment. That means that hardware designed to help scammers steal your information never accesses that information.
However, just scanning your card can make some users less secure and more visible. It’s safer from a tech perspective but doesn’t feel the same as paying with a typical card.
Ultimately, individual buyers should decide what’s best for them.
Is GetGo Gas Good Quality For The Price?
Fuel quality is one of the biggest factors in how well your vehicle runs and how long it keeps running. Using the right quality and grade of fuel for your car is incredibly important, which is why some buyers only go to certain brands of gas stations.
Regarding some brands, like GetGo, it can be hard to tell if you’re getting good fuel or one that’s more likely to have contaminants and leave residue in your fuel system.
Fortunately, GetGo is committed to providing high-quality fuel at affordable prices. They meet or exceed all fuel quality standards and are comparable to some of the highest quality fuels on the market.
That’s important because it means you won’t be compromising vehicle health when getting those GetGo gas discounts.
However, there aren’t any publicly available analyses of GetGo fuels. So, while we know they meet or exceed all required standards, we don’t know how much they exceed fuel standards or how they compare to gas from more highly regulated markets like California.
Overall, GetGo gas is still reliable and high quality, even if we don’t know all the details.

Are GetGo Gas Prices Reasonable For All Fuel Grades?
GetGo offers all standard grades and types of fuel. That’s great for consumers who don’t want to go to a specific gas station to refuel, but some worry that the deal at GetGo might not be as good for higher-grade fuel as it is for regular.
The good news is that GetGo’s undiscounted prices are pretty close to the local average price across all fuel grades and types.
Without the Advantage Pay, discount GetGo prices aren’t that much lower than their competition, but they also don’t charge more for mid or premium-grade fuels.
So, no matter what fuel you need for your vehicle, GetGo is a reasonable option.
Where Can You Find GetGo Stores?
Right now, like a lot of gas station chains, GetGo is a regionally limited store. That means that if you’re traveling across the country, you probably shouldn’t count on seeing GetGo stations at your destination.
Or, if you’re going in the opposite direction, you might get to go to a GetGo station for the first time!
The company is based out of Pittsburg but thankfully is a little more widespread than just the city.
Right now, there are GetGo locations in Indiana, Maryland, Ohio, Pennsylvania, and West Virginia.
Of course, like any chain store, GetGo might decide to expand to new locations in the future. So, even if you don’t have GetGo stations yet, keep an eye out, and you might get word of a new station being built in the future.

GetGo Gas Prices [UPDATED 6/13/2022]
Since this post was published, the national average per-gallon price is now $5.014, considered a 40-year record high with no signs of slowing down. Thus, we felt the need to update this post for GetGo’s gas prices.
According to GasBuddy.com, GetGo offers a per-gallon price of $4.99, which is the most affordable pricing in Washington, PA. However, with the trend of skyrocketing prices, there’s little doubt that the lowest fuel price will break the $5 threshold sooner rather than later.
Meanwhile, the GetGo in Painesville, OH, has a standard per-gallon price of $4.94, which doesn’t break the top most affordable prices in the area. In Painesville, the cheapest gas generally comes from local food marts. However, GetGo remains to have competitive pricing in this area.
Lastly, the GetGo in Columbus, OH, has a price of $5.04 per gallon, which again failed to make it into the top ten cheapest prices in Columbus. The most affordable gas prices in Columbus come from Sheetz at $4.79 per gallon and Circle K at $4.89 per gallon.
Surefire Ways to Save Money at the Pump
If you’re struggling to keep up with the recent increases in fuel prices, here are some easy ways to soften the blow to your wallet:
- Track the local prices: Convenience is the enemy of savings. Your favorite gas station may not have the best price in your area, but you go there anyway because it’s convenient. Using a price-tracking app like GasBuddy enables you to keep track of prices within your vicinity.
- Pay with cash: This may depend on your state or even the individual gas station, but many pumps will charge you less if you pay with cash. Sometimes, the difference could be as much as 20 cents per gallon, which adds up over time.
- Join a fuel rewards program: Gas cards and rewards programs allow you to get points you may use for fuel discounts. If you find yourself filling up in one or two stations, it might be worth joining their rewards programs and getting some serious savings.
- Plan your trips: If you can help it, just drive less to save on gas. Plan your trips and routes to make the most out of your fuel.
Final Thoughts On GetGo Gas Prices:
GetGo might advertise some of the best prices in the area, but the truth is that not all of their customers will get those rates. That’s fine, but it’s better to be prepared than to get surprised at the pump when you aren’t getting the advertised rate.
That said, their non-discounted prices are reasonable, and they consistently offer high-quality fuel worth the price.
So, while GetGo might not be the cheapest gas station out there, they’re still a good and moderately reliable option.
