Buick is one of the divisions of the American automaker General Motors, and it was one of the original American marques of vehicles founded in 1908. It was founded by automotive pioneer David Dunbar Buick. Recently the brand has been promoted as a premium automotive brand in North America for much of its existence, selling luxury automobiles that are positioned above GM’s mainstream models but below the flagship luxury Cadillac division. While considered a good quality brand, how long do Buicks last?

Buick is one of the world’s oldest automotive brands in addition to one of the oldest in the United States. It is also one of China’s most popular and best-selling vehicles. In 2016, General Motors sold over 1.1 million Buicks in China, which accounts for about 80 percent of Buick sales. While the brand isn’t as well-known as it was in the 1960s and 1970s, all signs point to it lasting a long time. That’s because today’s Buicks are safe, dependable, affordable, and easy to maintain.

Buicks can outlast their competition provided you’re willing to put in the effort to keep them in excellent functioning order. Since its foundation in 1903, Buick has been one of the top premium automotive manufacturers, offering power, elegance, and comfort. Buicks typically have a lifespan of roughly 200,000 miles, or 13 years.

Current Buick models

  • Enclave (from 2008 until the present)
  • Encore (from 2013 to the present)
  • Encore GX (from 2020 until the present)
  • Envision (from 2016 to the present)

Buick is in the center of the market, in between mainstream and luxury brands. The bulk of the vehicles are high-end and well-kept, with well-designed interiors and straightforward entertainment systems. Most Buicks can’t match the gas mileage of their modern counterparts, as it is increasingly focusing on SUVs like a majority of other brands based in the North American market. Despite its modest model line, Buick remains one of the most dependable domestic brands.

Buick now only sells the Enclave, Encore, Encore GX, and Envision as SUVs. In a general attempt to focus on more family-based crossover cars, the business discontinued making sedans a few years ago. What makes a car dependable? Longevity and longevity, recalls, and repair costs are all factors to consider.

How long do Buicks last and how can you extend its lifespan?

The owner is a significant factor in determining how long a vehicle will endure, but since models can last on average around 200,000 miles, routine maintenance will only help prolong its lifespan. If you have the financial means, the time, and the desire, you might be able to extend the life of your Buick by following these steps:

How long do Buicks last and how can you prolong their life?

  • Use OEM (original equipment manufacturer) components whenever possible
  • Inspections should be done on a regular basis in order to spot any possible problems
  • Maintain your car’s cleanliness to avoid weather-related wear and tear
  • Drive smoothly and with controlled acceleration and braking
  • Check oil and other fluid levels routinely
  • Check your tire pressure regularly
  • Keep the vehicle covered whenever possible
  • Wash the vehicle on a regular basis, especially in climates routinely exposed to the elements
  • Do not put too much weight on your car

While these are generalizations and not every Buick will have the exact same lifespan, you should expect one of the current models to last a minimum of 150,000 miles with proper care. Most Buick’s that had significant mechanical failures have since been retired, and the current lineup has only issued a few recalls since their inception, giving drivers an additional sense of security.
