There’s no better time to get on the all-electric bandwagon than now. Besides the lowering prices of electric vehicles or EVs, the space has become more competitive as manufacturers put out their own spins on electrified cars, trucks, and SUVs. While having numerous EV options is undoubtedly great, many shoppers may find themselves overwhelmed with choices.
So today, we put the spotlight on one EV model that’s been getting everyone excited, critics and customers alike: the Kia EV6. The EV6 may not be the most exciting name for an electric crossover, but the machine itself offers promising features and a great exterior design.
For this post, we discuss the Kia EV6 interior, range, performance, and everything else you need to know. This highlight will mainly discuss the 2023 Kia EV6 (it only debuted last year). Let’s get to it.
What’s New for the 2023 Kia EV6?
The entire EV6 lineup has shifted upmarket, as Kia dropped the 2022’s most affordable trim, Light. The Wind RWD trim becomes the new entry-level EV6, and all rear-wheel drive models can now access the Technology package. Meanwhile, Kia introduced a new range-topping model, the EV6 GT, which can crank out a powerful 576 hp and zips to 60 mph in 3.6 seconds. Prices have increased across all EV6 models.

Kia EV6 Exterior Design
Drivers who prefer their EVs to have futuristic designs and aura will have much to love about the EV6. One of the first things you’ll notice about the EV6 exterior is its wind-cheating aerodynamic shape which looks like a marriage between a coupe and an SUV. Kia describes this design philosophy as ‘Opposites United,’ which brings the sportiness and boldness of a coupe and the practicality and swankiness of an SUV.
Either way, the Kia EV6 offers plenty of eye-catching details that make it stand out, including a low-set sloping hood, boomerang-shaped headlamps, angled windshields, a concave lower tailgate, etc. Overall, the EV6 looks like a proper futuristic EV with an athletic and elegant design at the same time.
Kia EV6 Interior
Right out the gate, the interior of the EV6 looks like it was taken from the Mercedes-Benz book of design with its single-unit 12.3-inch screens. The Kia EV6 interior is a proper modern space, but perhaps a little too similar to the Hyundai Ioniq 5 – not surprising since they’re essentially fraternal siblings. That said, one can argue that the EV6 has a more upscale and stylish interior than Hyundai’s EV offering.
Kia claims that no animal products were used to manufacture the leather seats, which is quite surprising considering that they don’t feel cheap or synthetic. However, there’s a noticeable quality difference between the entry-level Wind and the top-trim GT. This Kia EV6 interior difference is about $4,000, so it’s up to you if it’s worth that much.
Despite how the EV6 looks like a hatchback, it has the cabin capacity of a crossover, so it’s perfectly usable with 103.0 cu-ft of passenger space. Cargo space behind the second row of seats is 24.4 cu-ft, which is expandable to 50.2 cu-ft with folded rear seats. If cargo space is your main concern, the EV6’s cargo capacity is cramped.
Kia EV6 Performance
With the Light trim out of the picture, the standard EV6 spec comes with a single electric motor mounted on the rear axle for rear-wheel models and with electric motors installed on both front and rear axles for all-wheel drive models. The base rear-drive model has a smaller battery with only about 167 hp. Meanwhile, upgrading to a larger battery will boost a rear-drive EV6’s output to a more decent 225 hp.
The Wind and GT-Line models with all-wheel drive have a total output of 320 hp and 446 lb-ft of torque. But the range-topping GT version takes it up a notch, with two electric motors and all-wheel drive producing a stunning output of 576 hp and 545 lb-ft of torque – an obvious choice if you’re looking for pure straight-line performance.

Kia EV6 Range, Charging, and Battery Life
The 2023 EV6 is available in two battery sizes: a 58.0-kWh and a 77.4-kWh pack, with the larger pack offering more driving range. At face value, the 58.0-kWh battery pack has an EPA-rated range of 232 miles, while the larger 77.4-kWh pack has an EPA rating of 310 miles. If you choose the performance-oriented GT model, the range drops to only 206 miles.
The total range is also affected by the wheel size of the EV6. For instance, the AWD LR model with 19-inch wheels offers 282 miles, and switching to 20-inch wheels will reduce the range by 30 miles.
Here’s how the different 2023 EV6 models stack up based on range, as per InsideEVs:
- RWD SR 19-inch: 232 miles
- RWD LR 19-inch: 310 miles (including both Wind and GT-Line models)
- Wind AWD LR 19-inch: 282 miles
- GT-Line AWD LR 20-inch: 252 miles
- GT AWD LR 21-inch: 206 miles
Legend:
- SR: Standard Range (58.0 kWh pack)
- LR: Long Range (77.4 kWh pack)
One of the best qualities of the EV6 is its fast charging capability. Using an 800V high-power charger, you can charge your vehicle from 10% to 80% state of charge in just 18 minutes. Meanwhile, the standard onboard charge should be sufficient for overnight charging and is on par with many other standard chargers in the market.
Kia EV6 Pricing
The entry-level EV6 (Wind trim with RWD) starts at $48,500. Adding another motor for all-wheel drive will cost you an additional $3,900. In comparison, if you opt for the GT-Line model, going all-wheel drive will cost you $4,700. The top-level trim GT comes standard with AWD and features the most potent engine in the lineup, starting at $61,400.
Breaking it down, the EV6 pricing across all models is as follows:
- 2023 Kia EV6 Wind: $48,500
- 2023 Kia EV6 GT-Line: $52,700
- 2023 Kia EV6 GT: $61,400
Keep in mind these are suggested retail prices and don’t include the destination fee of $1,295. The Kia EV6 is available in all 50 states.
