Mazda has a reputation for making vehicles with excellent design and solid reliability. Moreover, Consumer Reports’ car brand rankings have listed Mazda as one of the best overall car brands. If you haven’t checked out what Mazda vehicles have to offer lately, you should know that they’ve also gone upscale. The Japanese automaker also has been adding more models to its lineup.
If it has been a while since you’ve checked out the Mazda brand, you’ve come to the right place. Today, we’ll walk you through the Mazda 2022 lineup, so you’ll know exactly what to expect and make the right purchasing decision.
Mazda 2022 Lineup: What’s New in 2022?
Below is the complete lineup of Mazda in 2022. All the prices indicated are for the base models.
Crossovers & SUVs
2022 Mazda CX-3 (Discontinued)
The CX-3 is the smallest SUV by Mazda and represents the least expensive way to get into the brand’s SUV lineup. However, Mazda has decided to drop the CX-3 from its stable for select markets, including U.S. and Europe. This makes sense since the new CX-30 is the better version with more power, cargo, and updated designs. If you’re looking for a new CX-3 in 2022, you’re out of luck.

2022 Mazda CX-30 ($22,500)
The Mazda CX-30 looks like a taller Mazda 3 hatchback but with a more rugged profile. The curvy exterior design and near-premium cabin make the CX-30 an upscale subcompact option without paying premium prices. Listed by U.S. News as the number one subcompact SUV, the CX-30 excels with its fun driving dynamics, sporty handling, and engaging steering.
In addition, the CX-30’s well-crafted interior is also a selling point, but it doesn’t have the most spacious cargo hold. In 2022, all CX-30s are now available in all-wheel-drive.
Available trims:
- 2.5 S
- 2.5 S Select
- 2.5 S Preferred
- 2.5 S Carbon Edition
- 2.5 S Premium

2022 Mazda CX-5 ($26,250)
The CX-5 is one of the most popular Mazda models out there, and that’s not the least bit surprising. Six years into its second generation, the CX-5 has received countless improvements since its inception. In 2022, the CX-5 gets a mid-cycle refresh and a few name changes to some trim levels. For instance, all CX-5 versions come with standard AWD and a reworked six-speed automatic transmission.
Both inside and outside, the CX-5 is just so easy on the eyes. Passenger space is generous, and the dash looks modern and upscale. With excellent safety scores, the 2022 CX-5 is a good candidate for a family SUV.
Available trims:

- S Select
- S Preferred
- S Carbon Edition
- S Premium
- S Premium Plus

- Turbo Signature
2023 Mazda CX-50 ($27,550)
Technically, the 2023 Mazda CX-50 isn’t a part of the Mazda 2022 lineup; instead, it’s an all-new model. However, as of this writing, the CX-50 is widely available now and is somewhat of an upgrade of the CX-5. Having said that, the CX-50 is a five-seater with a dash that looks to be quite truck-like. All models get a base 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine capable of 187 hp. Customers seeking more power will want the turbocharged variant that provides 256 horses.
In addition, the CX-50 has a wealth of standard and optional tech features. The CX-50 may seem like a puzzling addition to the growing Mazda lineup, but it is welcome.

2023 Mazda CX-9 ($36,855)
The 2022 CX-9 is yet another solid entry for Mazda’s three-row crossover – in fact, it’s one of the sportiest options in a traditionally unexciting segment. Like most of Mazda’s current lineup, the interior of the CX-9 looks and feels high-end, thanks to its upscale materials, detailed styling, and comfortable second and third-row seats. The CX-9 boasts a lively turbocharged engine and crisp handling, which is excellent if you want to drive a Miata in a spacious SUV package.
The Mazda CX-9 has tough competition like the Hyundai Palisade and Kia Telluride. However, it stands out with its fun-to-drive attitude and handles like a smaller SUV.
Available trims:
- Sport
- Touring
- Touring Plus
- Carbon Edition
- Grand Touring
- Signature
2022 Mazda MX-30 EV ($33,470)
The 2022 Mazda MX-30 EV is the brand’s first foray into the EV space. The 2022 MX-30, despite being an EV, looks and feels like a Mazda. It offers excellent exterior styling, an upscale cabin, and rewarding on-road dynamics. However, the MX-30 EV has none of that awe-inspiring acceleration of many EVs. Plus, the measly 100-mile range just can’t compete with other EVs in the market.
Available trims:
- Standard
- Premium Plus

The 2022 Mazda boasts the familiar down-to-earth driving dynamics with a superb engine that delivers the right amount of power. It’s a driver’s car through and through, but with enough features to keep the driving experience safe and comfortable – especially with the higher trims.
