The R1S’s 7 seater design (that’s passenger seating, there are 8 seats including the driver’s chair) includes 4 bucket seats and a bench seat for the third row.
Because there isn’t a lot of press information available we don’t yet know if the third row of seating is designed to be comfortable for adults, or if that row is designed for children only.
All of the seats are covered in durable vegan leather and suede with visible stitching, and the seats have an ergonomic design meant to offer a little more back support for extended driving.

The Launch version of the 2022 Rivian R1S already comes pre-loaded with a lot of nice features and interior additions, but some options features that you can add to your R1S if the base dimensions aren’t quite enough.

Fortunately, Rivian knows that users need charging options, and has plans in the works for 600 fast-charging sites across the country, so there are more options for their vehicles and other compatible models as well.
The batteries use 200 kWh per charge.
Towing Capacity
For a vehicle that seems to be designed for camping and outdoor adventures, towing can be an important feature. The Rivian R1S is designed with 7,000 lbs towing capacity.
Just remember that you need to subtract the weight of the vehicle and passengers from that total if you want to avoid putting unnecessary stress on your suspension.
Suspension
This vehicle comes with an adaptive air suspension system that can lift the vehicle up to 14.9 inches.
Rivian R1S Release And Supply
The first Rivian R1S have already hit the roads, release started in December of 2021, and the first vehicles went to the CEO and CFO.
However, the Launch Edition is fully reserved, and consumers who’ve already bought in should be receiving their vehicles as they become available.
That said, like many other EV manufacturers, the supply of Rivian R1S is going to be limited, and their production target is a relatively modest 25,000 units for 2022.
With that in mind, investors and fans of the company are hoping for more plans to expand Rivian’s manufacturing capacity and that ramping up the infrastructure for EVs will include ramping up production as well.
