If you’re looking to get into the hybrid or EV market, there’s no better time than now. A few years ago, consumers who wanted to go full-electric only had a few options–many belonged to the luxury tier of vehicles. That’s not the case anymore as the EV market expands, and more and more manufacturers have made their full-electric cars, trucks, and SUVs.

One of the most noteworthy startup manufacturers in the EV space is undoubtedly Rivian. The startup first released the R1T, an all-electric pickup truck marketed as luxurious but still functional and approachable. Next, Rivian hopes to shake up the competitive EV market by releasing an all-electric SUV called the R1S.

While there are many things to be said about the R1S SUV, we’ll focus on the Rivian R1S interior. For today’s post, we will highlight its overall design, features, tech, and more. Let’s take a look.

Rivian R1S Interior: Overview of Trim Levels

As you might have seen from the promos, the Rivian R1S is one of the most visually-striking electric SUVs in the market. Fortunately, it also looks and feels great inside. For the Rivian R1S interior, there are two trim levels to choose from: Explorer and Adventure. Here’s how both trims stack up against each other.

R1S Explore

The R1S Explore is the base model of this full-electric SUV. While the Explore serves as the base, it comes nicely equipped. For example, it includes active safety and driver assist features such as lane-departure warning, lane-keeping assist, blind-spot monitoring, adaptive cruise control, etc. It also comes with the Driver+ Level 3 autonomous driving technology, which enables the Rivian to drive itself in certain circumstances.

In general, the R1S Explore trim comes with these notable interior features:

  • Driver+: Rivian’s very own driver-assist technology with Level 3 autonomous driving.
  • Vegan leather seats: Mimics the look and feel of genuine leather but with a longer shelf life.
  • Five or seven seating options: Rivian customers have two choices: a five-seater with considerable cargo space and a seven-seater with room for more people.
  • Heated front seats and steering wheel: Standard heating options with luxury vehicles.

R1S Adventure

The Adventure trim adds more luxurious features to this Rivian SUV, such as the classy ashwood added to the dashboard and more interior color options, including Ocean Coast, Forest Edge, and more. The R1S Adventure also comes with a Meridian Elevation 360° audio system composed of 20 strategically placed speakers, including four overhead titanium dome speakers. As of this writing, those who wish to buy a Rivian R1S can only opt for the Adventure trim.

Overall, the R1S Adventure model comes with the following notable interior features:

  • Meridian Elevation 360° Audio: This top-notch audio system comes with 1,400 watts and 20 speakers that turn the Rivian SUV into a sound studio.
  • Ventilated front seats: This luxury feature keeps your bottom nice and cool when things get too warm outside.
  • Lumbar support for passengers: Just like the driver’s seat, the rear passengers also receive lumbar support.
  • Forest Edge interior theme: This adds another interior theme to the R1S with green, earthy tones that fit your green SUV.

R1S Interior: The Design

Like Tesla and many other EV manufacturers, Rivian opted to use the sleek and minimalistic design of the R1S’s cabin. However, unlike most electric vehicles that seemingly went all the way futuristic, the R1S features a more inviting feel to its cabin. Think of high-quality soft materials, wood accents, impeccable finish, and visually calming. This makes sense because Rivian claimed to have designed the interior as “premium spaces meant to be lived in and knocked around.”

Furthermore, consumers have multiple options for interior themes, particularly for the Adventure model. The extra interior options include the: Black Mountain, Forest Edge, and Ocean Coast – each has its own unique feel and adds excellent versatility to the Rivian’s interior space. In addition, the Adventure trim includes an authentic, natural-grained ash wood wrapping around the center display, adding a great deal of style and sophistication to the cabin.

THE BEST USED SUVS UNDER $10,000

We looked into price, reliability, features, and more to create this list of the best used SUVs under $10k on the market today. Take a look - some of the best used SUVs have gone mostly overlooked or forgotten.

The base Explore model doesn’t skimp on stylishness and comfort either. It offers two interior themes, including the Black Mountain and Ocean Coast. The interior is tied together with striking matte-black finishes and vegan leather seating. While the Adventure model looks more sophisticated, the Explore aims to be the sportier trim.

R1S Interior: Connectivity

As you might expect, the Rivian R1S interior is packed with cutting-edge tech and features. Here are the connectivity features of the Rivian R1S:

  • LTE and Wi-Fi
  • Bluetooth
  • Wireless inductive charging
  • Up to 8 USB ports
  • 2 12V and 2 120V outlets
  • Alexa support

You may set up a mobile app so you can use your smartphone to communicate with your SUV. Plus, over-the-air updates are regularly pushed to ensure that your system is updated so you receive an optimal cabin experience. One main drawback to the connectivity of the R1S is that it doesn’t have Apple CarPlay or Android Auto support.

Finally, the in-car entertainment is supercharged to the max with its Rivian Elevation audio system, giving you new ways to enjoy your favorite tunes while on the go.

R1S Interior: Seating and Cargo Space

The R1S offers plenty of seating versatility, including the 40/20/40 and 5050 split configurations. In addition, the R1S offers over 104 cubic feet with plenty of compartments, pockets, and small storage solutions. Once again, the R1S proves it’s a proper family vehicle in terms of utility.

R1S Interior: Safety and Driver Assistance Features

The Driver+ suite comes with every Rivian vehicle, and it features plenty of standard safety and driver assistance features, including:

  • Lane Change Assist
  • Trailer Assist
  • Highway Assist
  • Adaptive Cruise Control
  • Lane Change Assist
  • Lane Keep Assistance
  • Lane Departure Warning
  • Blind Spot Warning
  • Automatic High Beams
  • Rear Cross-Traffic Warning
  • Park Assist
  • Forward Collision Warning
  • Automatic Emergency Braking
  • Dynamic Brake Support

As you can see from its interior features, the Rivian R1S is shaping up to be one of the fully-electric SUVs to watch out for, and it’s no wonder it’s selling like hotcakes with lots of wait time between orders.
